History of NSV

HISTORY OF NSV

The first meeting entitled “The biology of large RNA viruses” was organized by Richard D. Barry and Brian W. J. Mahy in 1969, Cambridge England. A symposium volume was published following this congress which discussed negative-strand RNA viruses, coronaviruses, and retroviruses. The meeting predated the discovery of reverse transcriptase and the recognition that the negative-strand RNA viruses contain an RNA polymerase within the virion. There have been a total of 17 meetings in the series, and we look forward to welcoming you to the next iteration of the series.
